What Gordon is experiencing is not the differences of moving to TIBO stuff
as much as it is simply from a local desktop database environment to a
client/server environment. With DBASE and PDOX an insert on the client is an
insert into the database. Auto generating numbers and server-side defaults
in PDOX show up immediately in the insert buffer. Moving to client/server
InterBase is a whole different ballgame because the client isn't the
database engine at the same time. This is where people get tripped up all
over the place.

If Gordon were to get discouraged with IBO and decide to use the BDE but he
still decided to use InterBase he would be facing exactly the same issues.
