Various reasons. RB has a great feature set but...

- It is very slow.

- It is a memory hog. You cant use cursors - you must use buffered
datasets even when only doing single pass reports.

- They wont release the RAP source - which means I cant use RAP (I
wont use any components for which I do not have the source).

- I got rather disillusioned while dealing with their support, guess I
am just spoiled after this list (and DreamCo are pretty good as well).
Dont get me wrong, they seem like nice people, its just that I think a
company of its resources should be able to do better.

- The changes going to RB5.5 - changes with this sort of impact should
have been left for a major version change or carefully documented and
made prominent in their release notes.


I have been intending to move away from RB for quite some time (when
did 5.5 come out?), but other committments have meant that I have not
had time to decide on an alternative. So there is nothing critically
bad/wrong with RB, its just that I would prefer to find something
else.
