This does make an excellent point. However, only using trimming rules with
the visual controls could lead to confusing inconsistencies. I am very much
against sources of confusion. I'd rather have consistent and stringent
enforcement of predictable behaviors.

Unfortunately, this is a situation where not everyone's best interest is
going to be served.

I think this is just one case where we cater to as many people as possible
and then clearly document the rest.
