have a number of places where I WANT all characters ( for compatibility
with mainframe feeds ) and so use CHAR, and now have to make sure that
the spaces are not clipped, when I would expect a CHAR(X) field to
return X characters as set. Is this just a matter of coming to a
concensus on use of VARCHAR and CHAR ?
