Yeah it's a Canadian one, with a green back worth 1.45 or so loonies,
it's not far from the $609 I saw, or thought I saw, when I read the
pricing, I was so ROTFLH, that it took me a good 10 minutes to re-
compose, the fact they were giving a coupon worth $75 off and a $1.99
T-shirt simply added to the hilarity. Heck I got two T-shirts from
Caldera (plus a bunch of demo CD's) for visiting their booth at last
summers Comdex Canada.
Now if Borland wanted to do it right, they would do the same thing
Corel did when they released their WPOffice for Linux stuff. The
seminar was FREE, they gave away FREE CD's of the demo stuff (how
about a 30 day demo, huh Borland?) and a half dozen registered copies
as door prizes.
We (developers) are doing Borland a favour, by buying and using the
product, because if the product is good, then a lot of developers
are going to use Delphi/Kylix so they can hedge their bets in the
platform wars. However Borland has to now start porting, Kylix needs
to be runnable on Solaris, HP-UX and AIX at least.
Hmmm, how much of IBO could be used in console mode applications, it
would be cool to use Kylix, IBO and firebird for web development.
