However if FB fixes it, and my software is written using FB, and IB
doesn't get fixed, and a client uses IB, then they will have the
problem, where as I didn't.

I don't get the IBDI list, the ib-support and this one, waste enough
time :-) Personally I think that Borland should donate the rights to
InterBase to the Firebird Project (under the condition that if
FireBird ever abandons development, the rights revert to Borland).
Then Borland could simply ship the FireBird edition with their
products.
