It would work. Since you are taking an extra step of unpreparing the proc
to prepare it again, it will be inocuous in the release that fixes it. You
will be doing a no longer need instruction for the fixed version.

I think Jason has answered you already. One point remains to be decided,
where Firebird should start: at version one or at version 6? With version
one, you put a new check on the shoulders of people writing database editors
(DBA utilities) to ensure the tool won't assume it found IB v1.0. Using v6
for firebird, however, you make an assumption that IB and FB are and will
remain compatible; but nobody can answer this question. This is not a
discussion topic for the IBO list, so IBDI list would be better.
