It's just another example of why the Firebird path is probably safest.
There are quite serious bugs in ALL of Borlands products, that persist
from older versions and apparently nothing is done about, other than
giving a work around. The other major bug on Interbase 5 was the use of
Events. Both 5.5 and 5.6 client had a problem, and the 'fix' was to use
the 5.1 client.

I have just spent 4 days solid with Memproof trying to identify a niggle
which randomly affects ALL my IBO based projects. The problem is
different on Windows 98, NT and 2k and only happened occasionally. The
programs bombed when started. One or two starts later, all OK again. I
have now tracked that error to gds32.dll, rather than starting, it locks
up.

Microsoft are just as bad! How many of the remaining listed bugs in NT
will be fixed - None - and now the fact that they will not be fixed is
being used as a marketing tool to get us to switch to 2k, in which a lot
of the same bugs are still listed. The reason I could track the niggle
was because 2k more reliably fails rather than starts, and I still get
Blue Screen every week.

Commercial companies have no interest in actually fixing bugs - the
fixes are next years income.
