The fact that the error only occurs when you run the app, and does not occur
when made active at design time, leads me to believe that it may be some
code or an event triggering the problem. I have been fooled by this scenario
many times. Inherited forms can make it very difficult to track bugs down.

Do yourself a favor and build a demo. Copy the project to a new project, and
delete everything not related to the error. Then start deleting things that
may be related. Through process of elimination, you will find the culprit.
And if not, then it is probably a bug related to form inheritence, or IBO,
but at least you will know what the bug looks like.

I had a bug a while back, that I was convinced was related to form
inheritence, but was not. I spent weeks trying to track it down with no
luck. When I built a demo app for Jason that localized the problem, it
turned out to be incredibly simple. The demo app had one form, one IB_Grid,
one query, and one datasource, all with default settings. The database was
one table, with only three columns, nothing else. It WAS an IBO bug, but it
was so simple, that it gave the "illusion" of being very complicated. I'm
still amazed that it existed as long as it did, with no one else being
bitten by it.

Paul
