OK, I rewrote your sample using an IB_DSQL. You can study it to see the
differences. I did not bother to run the BDE for comparison, because I do
not have BDE on my machine. Now the insertion time is 10,000 (1000 could not
be measured) records in less than 3 seconds. This is about a 4000%
improvement. Not bad. With optimizations it would get better. I will post
the project to the egroup site.

My test machine is a dual celeron 366meghz. I had about 5 other apps
running, 2 video cards, and Beethoven.com running in the background.
