In the rest of the English-speaking world:

Professor = head of an academic department (university, technical
institute) - the "Chair" - gets paid a stipend
Associate Professor = usually some highly prominent academic in the field,
often a former Professor - sometimes gets paid a stipend, sometimes just an
Honorarium
Senior lecturer = senior teacher in one or specialised branches within the
department - stipend or salary
Lecturer = teacher, presenter of "lectures" which in the US seem to be
called "classes" - stipend or salary
Tutor = leader of tutorial group associated with one course + level within
the department, often a doctoral student - paid by the hour
Reader = postgraduate student, required to present lectures or run
tutorials, usually as part of terms of a research scholarship.
