The one thing I can think of that is causing this strange behavior is
the automatic check for updates. When the wizard starts, it launches an
additional thread to check for updates at a given address.

Why this is not working, I really cannot say. The check relies on the
WinInet libraries, but these are installed with Internet Explorer and
they are certainly found in any W2K installation. Are you using dial-up
or do you have a persistent connection? Either way, it should work, but
maybe there's something broken in the TCP/IP stack.

I might suggest you modify the text file with the url to point to a
regular file, maybe by using file://c:/test.txt. I cannot remember the
name of the file, but it must be something like check_updates.txt.

Hi,

I am rather a newbie with these kind of things, but I have the
feeling SQL2GDB is behaving strangely. It is very simple, really :
when I launch the program it crashes some time after that. I have not
done anything with it. The crash message says the program has
commited errors, and that Windows will close it. The message also
says that an error log should be generated, but I cannot find this
log.

I am using a French version of Windows 2000. Any idea what could be
happening ?
