Probably most people with one server don't use it. With multiple servers on one box, you're going to use at least one non-standard port, so you'll be configuring either RemoteServiceName or RemoteServicePort...

I think it's not a bad idea to go the RemoteServiceName way if you're deploying software that installs Firebird on a server you have no control over. I'd rather have a dedicated Services entry that I can troubleshoot, than run the risk of clashing with another Firebird or IB server installation.
