Thanks Steve. That's interesting. I forgot about stopping xinetd. So if I understand you right, you are suggesting the following:
1. Review all FB processes (ps -ax | grep fbserver) and kill -9 on those
2. Shutdown the service of xinetd
3. gfix to single user - then do maintenance
4. Start xinetd again
Does that sound right to you?
