Using sources can only be treated as can compile under new version or not.

But as you pointed that someone (developer) can hide sources than i suppose that adding restore switch

or mayby implement some crypto possibility for sources will be much better. Someone can crypt sources and then during restore with switch recompile

he must provide some crypto key.
