OK, guessing what went wrong is easier if you tell us what error messages you're seeing.

IBFIrstAid.  If that doesn't work, IBPhoenix offers consulting to repair databases. 

 

Also I would appreciate if someone can also point out how the database generally gets corrupted/damaged….!!

Generally databases don't get corrupted.One way to do it is to put the database on a shared drive

and override the configuration parameters that keep two instances of Firebird on different machines

from accessing the database at the same time.  Without some hint of what errors you're seeing

it's hard to guess.
