Also try to change the LockHashSlots in your Firebird.conf to:
LockHashSlots=20011
Restart Firebird(or computer) and maybe you will have a lower %

So I have upgraded to v2.5.4 CS 64 bit and it looks promising. I am running the exact same load as before but the Mutex wait figure is now hovering around 8.5% and isn’t increasing like it did before.
Hopefully that is the problem fixed, next step will be a full backup and restore which can only make things even better.
