IMHO, this is due Windows caching. Even if you shutdown Firebird server not all memory will be freed.
IMO, this is not a problem. If you are experiencing crashes this will be associated with other things. Please describe more precisely what is the crash.

Hello,
i have installed Firebird as SuperClassic Server on three computers (win8, win7).

On all computers i have the same problem.
If i backup with gbak the databses the memory-usage is increasing and stay on the high
level, even backup is done.

backup.bat:
c:\firebird\bin\gbak -b -user someuser -passw somepw -v d:\db\mydb.fdb d:\db\my_db.bck
exit;

So after 2-3 days the memory is used 90% and more and the pc crashes then.
This happens on Firebird 2.5.2 and 2.5.3

Perhaps you know a solution,
many thanks and best regards
