what is internet and what is lan? And how it differ?
No difference. At least for Firebird and lot of other
applications.

you are too misty. What restrictions?
There are lot of things can be made
- by firewall
- by connection encryption software like zebedee.
- by delphi application
- by SQL grants
- by your logic in procedures and triggers,
allowing to restrict users at record level.
So, what are you asking about?
