Hi Mark,
I do not remember exactly but may by this is that ticket. But looking on change log after 2.5.2 we see many fixes becouse of that i prefere to have newest snapshot than very old release of FB

Are you sure you aren't confused with
http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/CORE-3610 which was fixed in 2.5.2?
I looked through the list of bugs fixed for 2.5.3 and none of them
include the bug you mentioned (and the bug I link to is very similar).
