I use this batch file on Win 7 to check the database
d:\fbdata\frontdesk.fdb:
@echo off
@mode con cols=80 lines=29
echo .
"c:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_2_5\bin\gstat" -h
d:\fbdata\frontdesk.fdb
echo .
pause
