Since the time Oracle acquired MySQL, the developments are slow in community edition. Apart from that few bugs are still present in it. But my main reason to move to firebird is the single file db model and it's maturity.


I have never used firebird and therefore wanted to know how it fits when compared to MySQL in terms of:



ANSI SQL compliance
Triggers
Foreign Keys
Stored Procedures
High Availability



Few of the above may be missing from MySQL, but don't know how these things work in firebird. In case of single file db corruption, what are the chances of recovery?

Ok.
1 Crystal Reports - Odbc. Works well.
2 single file database model - works very well in both Classic/Super
Server - its your choice depending on end-user requirements and
platform. Is equally at home on Windows and Linux. Firebird uses 1 file
with all you need wrapped up in it. You can also use more than 1 file -
but only if you need/want to.
3 What are the strong points of firebird over MySQL? I think that goes

You need to decide what you want and expect. If MySQL works for you and
you know it, stick with it. If you can fix the issues, surely that would
be less work for you.
