This really needs a new thread, as it's not really a case of 2.5 being at any fault.

I've been lucky up until now in that my legacy windows applications developed in
FB1 days are still running with FB2.1, and on the surface FB2.5 seemed to be
happy as well, but I have been getting occasional glitches which go away if I
roll back to FB2.1 so I perhaps need to upgrade the windows program.

I recently took advantage of the upgrade offer from Emb. since I was still using
Builder6 and now I have the RAD XE studio with both Builder and Delphi, but I am
still stuck! All of the legacy code is based on a number of third party
libraries starting with IBO, and as yet I can't get some of them to install and
work with Builder XE. This really is pain as the existing programs have been
running reliably for 10 years and more - into Interbase prior to Firebird - but
getting the same stability nowadays seems to mean a rewrite from the bottom up :(

Perhaps it's time to ditch Windows :) All the new code is PHP and Apache on
Linux, but all the sites have a lot of hardware still run from the windows boxes.
