If, but them functionality and bringings up to date differ between the two versions, for such motive the bookstore of a version with the other one should not be mixed, for my understanding is a big error of the packers.

For such motive is that I use always the installations the source. In that manner I can even have the 2 versions working at the same time without a hitch.

I think the logic is that in debian to use only one fblib to access both
firebird 2.5 , 2.1 servers

and for libfbclient2 to be installed correctly it requires two extrapackages
(mostly docs and default configs) that will not harm the 2.1 installation
