Ouch! I surely knew. After all it's in your book, and I made sure to understand all that before I bet our company's fortune on a new database.
Funny... when rereading this now (pp 529/530) I even found that I underlined it to keep in mind better, which was somewhat futile, obviously :-)

For me, a transaction inserting something and then reading it again in the same context is somehow alien. But I realize that it might be just normal or probably even desirable by others.
