Subject Re: [firebird-support] Firebird.conf FileSystemCacheSize, Where am I going wrong?

This "eating all memory problem" occurs with Firebird (and perhaps other software) on Win 2008 server ... This seems an OS issue...
MS has an article on it saying it should not happen on R2 updated versions of the OS, but, it happens...

Anyway, a friend wrote me with a possible solution here:

Haven't tested yet though.

Hello,

I am upgrading from Firebird 2.0 to Firebird 2.5. On restoring a 30GB database I have a problem with the filesystem cache using all availiable ram on a 64bit Windows 2008 server.

Looking at the firebird.conf file I can see that FileSystemCacheSize should, by default, limit the file system cache to 30% of the availiable ram in the system. This is not working though, all system ram is being used. There is no message in firebird.log to suggest that the setting failed.

Please help, what am I missing?

Regards,

Will.
