I think quoted identifiers were introduced with Dialect 3 in InterBase 6.0 (before Firebird). I doubt dialect 1 has ever worked with quoted identifiers, at least this five year old message from Helen indicates that: http://tech.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/IBObjects/message/39198

For you to be able to use quoted identifiers, you will need to upgrade your database to dialect 3.
