All,
I am working with the STARTING WITH clause in a SELECT statement and
sometimes the value of the parameter is a blank string. It appears that
there is different behavior at times with respect to how this works.
Sometimes I get all the records returned and sometimes it doesn't return any
records. It depends upon what sort order I am using.
I recall there was some talk in the past about some problems in InterBase
about this and I am wondering also if perhaps there was some leftovers from
that problem.
If you would like to see this in action, one of the sample apps in the IB
Objects component suite demonstrates it quite well. It's the BrowseItems
sample app. If you comment out the lines of code that establish the P_SEARCH
input parameter then it will run flawlessly.
Thanks,
Jason Wharton
