Have you tried typing gbak -svc ....? This is what you get:

norman@tux> gbak -svc
gbak:unknown switch "SVC"
...
gbak:switches can be abbreviated to the unparenthesized characters
gbak: ERROR:found unknown switch
gbak:Exiting before completion due to errors


You need -se[rvice], as per the manual I'm afraid.
