Hi Tony,
use ProcessExplorer from Sysinternals - that seems to be able to kill
everything!

mentioned have 8 other databases/applications running.
Check for messages in the firebird.log file, usually found under
c:\Program files\firebird\firebird_x_x on your server. (x_x being the
version of Firebird you are running.)
