That all depends on the size of the records, your network and the patience of your users! Normally, I wouldn't say that 100.000 records is much - although it should be enough for you to notice things being a bit slower with your left join as opposed to your inner join.

I will try it for "not huge" tables... by the way... could you define "huge"...? 10.000, 50.000, 100.000 records?
