Thanks for the links, I will have a look at it.  These recordcounts are visible on every form the customer opens.  For small lookup tables, I just use the count of the table.  However for larger tables like customers, suppliers, quotes, projects, I never fetch all data....,  so instead of count(*), I like to use a system that is less time consuming and less expensive for the FB server.  So when a user opens the customer form, there is a component that shows xxx records....   Same when opening order form, xxx records.  Don't know why it is important, but the customers like to know how many quotes, orders, projects they have.
