We are giving GBak the alias name. It seems to want to convert that to the actual filename which then gets blocked via the DatabaseAccess setting.

I don't think it is relevant but I will mention that I am launching this from the server. The exact launch command is this:

"C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_2_1\bin\gbak.exe" -v -t -g -co -user SYSDBA -password masterkey MyAlias c:\BackupFile.fbk

-rs

Have you tried using the database alias rather than the full file name with gbak?

Subject: [firebird-support] GBak and DatabaseAccess= None

Hi,

This caught me a bit by surprise... I went to do a backup but couldn't. I was getting an error like this:

gbak: ERROR:Access to database "C:\xxxxx\File. FDB" is denied by server administrator
gbak:Exiting before completion due to errors

When I set DatabaseAccess= Full in Firebird.conf the backup went ahead no problem.

Is this expected? How then, does one do a full backup on a secured server, without using nBackup?

cheers,
-randall
