I am packing the tables now when this happens, but then everyone has to close their programs that use the tables. Not terribly convenient.

This is an interim solution right now where I have to import from an OLD dBase program into a new VB.Net program that uses Firebird. As soon as the completed Net program is ready, there will no longer be the need to import. Hopefully the Net program will be ready in several months, but my concern is also importing the information from the existing tables. I guess packing them before the final import is not really a problem.
