I remember seeing such problem once. I can't recall the actual issue,
but IIRC it did restore via network connection. Do you get the same
error when accessing via TCP/IP ?

gbak -c -v -user sysdba -pass mypass backup.bck
localhost:/full/path/tobase.fdb
