I use FIBPlus (make sure you have the latest version - check the number
carefully when you download, plus full source)
I just had 2 unresolved issues with the more obscure TFIBBatchOutput
components, but fixed those myself very easily.
IBX had a problem with the TIBEvents, you also have the source, but not
the package, so if you use "build with packages" in your projects you
are stuck. I haven't tried using anything else from them, but that
scared me away. Also, they know of the problem, it has been fixed, but
they may also choose to release the fix along with the NEXT Delphi, not
as a release on its own! Yuck! (Yes, I am tempted to use stronger
language here!)

porting the application to 2009 is going to be tough enough without
needing
to worry about components which are not compatible.
Why do you say IBO won't be compatible? I was thinking I should have
maybe used them...
IBExpert (my hero's!) have brought out a DBX driver. And something
similar is due for release along with the next version of Delphi. I'm
not sure how the distribution licence quite works though...
