As for the other 250,000 reads, I'm not sure.
I thought I remembered something about an engine bug which cased the
engine to double read rows when evaluating LIKE/STARTING WITH clauses,
but I can't find a case in the tracker so I can't be sure. Perhaps
someone else can help here.
