I did not see this behavior in IBExpert, but during the first connection of
the running application. Strange, uh? Maybe my code? My components?

Do you see the same behavior when using a utility to connect to the
database(i.e.: isql, flamerobin, Database Workbench, etc...)? Also, is
it possible that you have an antivirus that scans the database file
before Firebird actually can read it.
