I don't know if this is urgent for you. I'm currently writing a
cross-platform (Linux/Windows, 32/64bit) tool that will be able to do
XML import into Firebird. It is a graphical tool, but user will be able
to save the project file and later run it automatically without user
interaction (it will require X-windows session, though). It's still in
alpha stage and I expect a beta version to be available for testing this
summer.

If you wish, I could contact you when beta is available for download.
