Subject Res: [firebird-support] Problems with the service of FireBird Server
Author Rogério Zgiet
Hello,
I have been facing this kind of error for months in a Firebird database we're managing. Everyday the Firebird error log was almost entirely filled with "INET/inet_error: read errno = 10054", and sometimes shutting down the service. I tried to solve it by adding the TcpNumConnections key to the registry as you did, and the problem still persisted, as you mentioned.
According to some documentation I found, this error can be caused by some network device malfunction or another network-related issue.
After some tests we found out that our server network card really wasn't working properly. This card was replaced and the error no longer happened (at least for the last three weeks)...

Beyond that, I don't know what else can cause this error. As far as I know every INET-type error is caused by some network-related issue.

Rogério

Thank you very much for your orientation. Evidently my problem is that of
the limit of 63 TCP connections.

I read everything you suggest and I learnt that apparently the problem can
be solved by adding the HKLM key TcpNumConnections but I tried this and the
problem continuos. This key wasn´t in the registry. So I added it and first
I try with the default value ffffffe and it didn´t work. Then I changed the
value to 999999 (decimal) and it didn´t work. I restarted Windows to be sure
the new key was working, but the problem is still there.

I also read that NOD32 antivirus may be causing the problem. This PC has
this antivirus. So I deactivated it but the problem continuous.

Perhaps I have to add any other key to the registry or I have to do
something else.

Does anybody have a suggestion?
