Thank you for your answer.
I am not the one who installed and manage the linux, so it took me a couple of days to get the version. They are using slackware 10.1 with kernel 2.4. I didn´t specify any carachter set.
I can´t go to firebird 2.0.5 because database files are already ODS 11.1.
But if firebird 2.0.5 works good with Linux kernel 2.4 and firebird 2.1.3 does not work good... Is this a bug of firebird? Will it be fixed in a future release?

I had the same problem on an old Trustix server with 2.4 kernel.
I only got the problem when i specified a character set.
( iso8859_1 in my case )
I went back to FirebirdCS-2.0.5.13206-0.i686.rpm
That one worked fine.
Grtz,
Rik
