OK, so is the write complete when the journal is written, or is it
forced all the way through?
I suppose I'll have to find out how the workaround works, and then post
on a Linux newsgroup.

Hi Rick,

Forced rights didn't work in Linux until version 2.0. It has been fixed
in version 2.1. This bug was due to a bug in the Linux kernel itself. It
has been fixed with a workaround, because the Linux bug is still there.
