Hi Anderson,
Thanks for putting a link to devrace in your message. Since you made
it so easy, I jumped right to it and checked it out. I see that it is
not a DBExpress driver. I had forgotten about that. All of my
database access goes through one wrapper class that was originally IBO
but will become DBExpress in the near future. I am hoping that
changes related to changing the database access can be isolated to
that wrapper class. Just the same, I think I will stay with DBExpress
(or IBExpress unless there is a problem) rather than switch to a new
Tdataset.
I recently felt compelled to change to Firebird 2.1 to take advantage
of the Global Temporary Tables. They definitely justified the change.
A report that had taken upwards of 2 minutes to run is now under 5
seconds. After the problem I mentioned with my DBExpress driver, I
switched to IBExpress, at least for access by FastReports. The
problem went away and I have not seen any incompatibilities since then.
Thanks again for your help.
Jack
