Well... My production experience so far is only with FB 1.5 -- here, NO,
there's no incompatibilities or at least none of some severity.

I've been playing around with FB 2.1 to port my c/s app to it. So far so
good. I've just "converted" my 1.5 database to 2.1 and had no problems at
all (chaged nothing on my app) -- the app even performed better with FB 2.1.

Unfortunatly this is not production experience nor a
long-and-wild-complete-test ... this was just primary tests I've done
getting some reports and executing some of most used functionalities of the
application to insert/update data.

Remember also that as a did not changed the app, no new "special" feature of
FB 2+ was introduced (by explicit code)... Someone on the list probably will
have a better experience (IBX and FB2+) to share.

Anyway... I find going with FIBplus or MDO a must do! And this is the step
we're probably taking for next major release of our app when definitly
supporting FB 2+ (or 3+)

=)

AFAIK this is a brazilian fork of the code that first originated IBX (and
FIB plus) on the past. I've never used myself but know at least 2 (two)
companies that have abdopted it with success.

have a look at their site:
http://www.mdolib.com/index.en.html

(there's also a portuguese version if you find it more confortable! --
algthoug protuguese and spanish look very similar I still find harder to
read spanish than english most times. I'm going to work this harder as I
don't like having a "bad time" understanding my "neighbors")

;-)

yep, I *think* FIB+ (http://www.devrace.com/en/fibplus/) has a bigger number
of users and as a comercial tool probably has a better (or at least faster)
support.
