I agree. Firebird should see the OS the same, whether it is virtual or
not. The convenience of managing servers running under VMware is
tremendous. Particularly if you want to create HA configurations with
minimal hardware count. The only cavet is that if you have a really
demanding application, you may need to consider a bare metal install
for the DB.
