You mean accent-insensitive (the attribute depicted in Firebird 2/2.1 collations by the _AI_ infix convention).

The answer is Yes, if:

1. the column is defined in a character set that has an _AI_ collation available for Italian, AND
2. you include the COLLATE clause appropriately for the operation to which you want the accent-insensitivity to be applied

But you have not said anything about your database character set or how you want to use this...
