http://firebirdsql.org is Firebird's main website.

If you haven't installed it yet, visit the Documentation Index at the Firebird website and pick up the Quick Start Guide for your Firebird version. (After installation, you will find it, along with other documentation, in the /doc/ directory beneath the Firebird root).

There are command-line tools in the /bin/ directory but you might wish to get hold of a graphical admin tool. The cross-platform tool FlameRobin can be found via the link on the home page at the Firebird website. Depending on your platform, there are numerous other tools to choose from. The http://www.ibphoenix.com website has links for most of them in its Contributed Downloads section. You can ask on the firebird-tools list about tools that have specific features you are looking for.

No doubt you will have course books to learn SQL. You don't mention what environment you will be working in but that does matter! You are welcome to use this and appropriate other Firebird lists to ask questions. (See http://firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=lists ). The more specific your questions, the better the answers you will get.

We are all volunteers here, mainly Firebird users with real jobs. We answer questions if we can, because we want to help. Unspecific questions that provide no information about what you need to do are very annoying. A study of your course outline should offer some clues about your objectives and what you need to ask about. *We* need to know details like the server version (a number) and model (Superserver, Classic, embedded), the operating system and version, the programming environment, in some cases the hardware and network environment, yadda yadda yadda...
