Hi Helen,
Thanks for the info.
Just to clarify - on POSIX platforms, we can use libfbembed to access a
local database without having a server installed? To access a remote
databse - we need to use libfbclient.
It might be interesting getting this all going but I'm sure it will work
out somehow - we'll probably need to deploy a couple of versions of the
Qt driver plugin - one linked to libfbembed and the other to libfbclient.
here! Thanks for all your help.
Windows initially with the embedded server when we were still in Delphi
land...
Regards,
Peter Lee

> None of the above. :-) You will find libfbclient.dylib somewhere - like wherever the Mapples force packagers to put it. If you can hang on for a few hours, Paul Beach (who creates the Mac packages) or Philippe Makowski (who QAs them) will be able to tell you exactly where to look. You might find some clues on Paul's blog: http://paulbeachsblog.blogspot.com/ There's no index so you'll have to wade around a bit.I've definitely got a few hours to wait - plenty of other tasks to do

If you're using the Firebird server's host machine as you development platform for remote clients, you'll need to take some steps to ensure that this "local" client application behaves like a remote one.
