If you restored your 1.5 database under a 2.0 server then you now have a database that is not compatible with 1.5.

It is not a Firebird message..."version string mismatch" sounds a bit Borlandish - are you perhaps using software made with IBX?

What is the *exact* message and where and when EXACTLY do you see it?
