Hello,
We have (most of installations) Firebird SuperServer 1.5.x Some default
settings some have DefaultCachePages 8-9K on Windows. (XP, Server 200/2003,
Vista32 and Vista 64)
Have tested Forced Writes on and Off.
Symptoms are that few thousands of rows (generally) pumps OK, then pumping
software (IBpump from clever components and Database Workbench from Upscene,
so I think it should be something else than client programs), firebird and
whole system does not consume processor time and use any IO (no kernel time
or everything, looked this up, with Task manager and sysInternals Process
Explorer). Everything can be still, even several minutes.
"Stand still" time depends on the machine. I have not found any setting that
seems to have significant effect on this. It can be that, on paper much
faster computer (processor, memory and disk wise), can be 2-5 times slower
that some old box where pumping will continue on constant, but slower rate.
Any ideas why we see this on some computers. Anything at all. I have tested
everything that I just can think of, but willing to hunt this down, if
someone could/would give some ideas to check upon.
most of the situations no other process is using Firebird.
